Network Linking Policy

Below is the Information required to link a server to the mIRCaddict IRC chat network? To QUALIFY you must be willing to adhere and abide by the following list of rules and regulations! Good Luck!

Note: If linked you will NOT be instantly added to services access list. As you prove your worth you may be promoted at the will of the staff. There is no set time frame for this to happen, it may happen quickly or it may take longer depending on how hard you work. You can’t link and expect to have instant access to everything, you need to earn it!

1. Linking Requirements
If you are interested in linking to the mIRCaddict.net IRC network, you must have the following abilities. Being an IRC operator or server administrator on our network (or any) requires patience, ability to deal with users in both normal and hostile environments’, knowledge of both basic and advanced IRC commands in a user and an Administrative manner also maturity is a must. Read on if you think you fit the board.

● You must have moderate knowledge of the Internet, IRC, and Unix/Linux operating systems.
● Your IRC server must have the latest version of Unreal running on a Unix/Linux shell to be linked on this network, for both reliability and stability reasons.
● At VERY minimum you must be able to host 512 users. We prefer the ability to have at least 1024 user connections.
● Your server must have at least a connection of 10MBit from a Data Center that has a good uptime and a reliable backbone.
● You will be required to go through a thirty-day trial period with your server linked but not added to the DNS pool so the administrators can make their final decision.
● Services and Network Administrators will vote on your link.

2. Server Privileges
If you meet these requirements so far then please read on and, good job. This is that what you are allowed (and not allowed) to do with your server while it is linked to our network.

● If you have a 1024 max user server, you can have the following for staff: Server Administrator (yourself), one co-administrator, and one global operator.
● If you have a 2048 max user connection server or higher you may have A Server Administrator, co-administrator, and two global operators. (NOTE: you are not required to have global operators if you do not want them.)
● You will be required to have a “basic” MOTD for your server but you may edit it to your standards.

3. Operator Requirements
If you choose to have operators on your server, they must go through screening and meet certain requirements as well.

● Operators must be active participants on the network for at least two weeks before given their Oline and access to services or server access in general.
● Operators must have an understanding of IRC and Unix/Linux operating system as well in case the administrator grants them access to his or her server via SSH.
● They must follow the staff rules (set in another document).

Technical Administrators: Cirrux & Slasher

• If approved please contact a member of the TechAdmin team for link preparation and linkblocks to be added to your server and routing setup.

• You must be willing to provide the login and password for your server the SSH info to your shell to ONLY TechAdmins and Net Admins. If at anytime you change your login information you are to notify a member of the TechAdmin and Net Admin teams, if you do not provide the new information your server can be delinked from the network at anytime if you do not comply with this rule. The information will be kept secure and confidential at all times. The only people that will or may ask you for your servers SSH information are TechAdmins and Network Administrators, whose identity may be confrimed via /whois information.

• You are not to give this information to any normal users at anytime for any reason what so ever! Do not share your SSH info with other Server owners they are not permitted to have access to any other server but there own. Net Admins and TechAdmins are the only authorized people to have this information to use for the purpose of logging into a server for upgrades or fixing server issues.

If your link is accepted your o:line will be set for basic “Server Administrator” privledges, if this o:line is modified without staff permission then you may be liable for suspension.
