The past week has seen an outbreak of (controlled) spam flooding the network. Controlled simply means that spam messages are being detected before being delivered to other users on the network which means nobody actually notices it unless you are sending these spam messages unwillingly and get banned for doing so.
The message being sent network-wide will look something like the following:
“Free Porn, Adult, Sex, Free Movie « http://www.LINK.tr.cx »”.
The way this message spreads, as most readers will probably guess, is by unsuspecting network users clicking on the link which, when opened, will infect the user’s computer with a virus which begins spreading the same message to all or most users that join each channel and the infected user has no idea they are infected and are helping to spread the virus. The url contained in the message can vary, there appear to be about 10 different links which, in this case, all have the suffix .tr.cx although the url i used in the example was fake.
I’d like to remind all users that the issue is now under control thanks to our network’s Spamfilter but if any more messages may appear remember: do not click the url if you don’t recognise it and report it to an IrcOp asap if you think it looks fishy.
If you think you have been wrongfully banned by the network’s spamfilter please don’t hesitate to email admin@atomic-irc.net and explain your problem as fully as possible.

We are looking for people to make banners for the site. We will have the banners rotate. Banners must be clean (PG-13 or less) and must include the text Atomic-IRC. Also there is a Photoshop template that can be found here. For those of you using anything other then photoshop or the photoshop template wont work for you then make the image at 760px by 200 px and send it in at the highest quality jpg you can.
